November Favourites & Updates

This shade creates such a healthy and cute looking glowy flush that just lifts the entire look. I've raved plenty about these and this is my favourite shade out of the four I have. It's a warm, very light pink that is similar to the 10 shade, but that one is more neutral pink and darker (though both are light. Their shade 60 is darkest). The formula of these remains my favourite out of all blushes I've tried. It's so smooth, pigmented and easy to blend. Sadly these are hard to get, but they can be bought in some places online and also a very decent alternative exists - Essence's Blushlighters, though those shades are not as pretty for my taste.

I could feature this in every monthly favourites since I got it because I wear it all the time. It's the perfect lip product - so comfortable that I wear it instead of a lip balm and the formula is thick enough that it sticks on the lips for longer than other glossy products. Formula is similar to the Ultra HD Matte liquid lipsticks that came out first, except these are just more glossy (those are creamy shiny). This shade is gorgeous and one of my favourite ever, it's a medium neutral muted pink that goes with anything and is fully opaque in one coat.

Despite my initial concerns this turned out to be a brilliant replacement for my old Shiseido curler and I now use it daily, or at least every time I wear mascara. Though the shape is different, since it's more curved, it fits my eye shape and creates a nice curl. The quality is again outstanding, my old one lasted me so many years before it became a bit loose (it's still working ok) and this one feels equally well made. Their pads also last so long, yet they are nicely soft. Best part: this one was half the price of my old one, because I got it straight from Japan on eBay.

LA CROA Argan Macadamia Oil Cream for Curly & Wavy Hair
I got this recently and I already like it a lot. It's a thick hair moisturiser that doesn't make the hair feel wet, so it would get all poofy when it dries, it doesn't tangle the hair like Cantu (in a pot) and it doesn't feel like a heavy coat when I reapply the next day. It's more similar to Olaplex n.6, meaning it feels like a silicone cream moisturiser that tames the hair, but this one is even richer and great for my thick, very dry hair. Another La Croa winning product. I still need to try it on damp hair, but on dry it's an excellent moisturising tamer.

BALEA Cremedusche White Gloss
This is hands down the best coconut scent DM ever made. Their coconut scents tend to be fresh and not sweet-creamy, so they end up kind of plastic-smelling, but this one has just the right combination of notes that complement the coconut which is most noticeable in this scent. To me it smells like white chocolate with coconut and a tiny bit powdery due to the iris, so this is truly a fantastic scent and I should go get a backup or two provided I get a chance.

I was not a fan of this scent the first time I tried it, as it smelled so weirdly musty to me, but I gave it  another chance already in the summer and I completely changed my mind about it. I wasn't sure whether it was the hot weather that helps it smell nicer or my chemistry changed, but now I can't get enough of it even in these cold month. It's not a typical perfume-y scent and I believe this was candle before it was a mist, which might explain that. It manages to smell both warm and fresh at the same time and the only note I can definitely point out is the apple, but it's the rest that creates that atmosphere of an warm, sunny autumn day. It's like a less sweet, less gourmand version of  BBW's Champagne Apple Honey and that odd musty note that bothered me in the past is completely gone now. For now I only have a sample from the lovely Sandra and with a broken pump, so I've been surviving on drops of this delightful fragrance, but I ordered a full size on eBay.

This is best described as a typical sugary fruity gourmand scent, very alike to some celebrity fragrances, so more something teenagers would like, but this month I wanted to wear something sweet and cute. It starts with a strong sweet raspberry syrup burst which calms down quickly then a smoother mix with the base notes emerges with amber at its centre. I detect no vanilla or star anise that are mentioned in the notes, so I find it a fresh departure from the classic fruity vanillas, but it's still in that group of fragrances for young at heart. I'm not sure it's still sold, it could be a part of the retired range, but it's like still sold on eBay where I got almost all of my BBW scents.

TIAMO Fragrances /Točeni parfumi
I miss having Refan (a shop with knock-offs of popular fragrances that are poured in front of you into a bottle of desired size) nearby so much. Those who read me for a long time might remember I used to have many bottles of their fragrances, but since I moved I haven't had a chance to buy them very often. Tiamo is exactly the same thing and they have an online shop (and I'm sure other countries have similar shops with other names elsewhere, but this one is for Slovenia. They have shops in NE Slovenia). I bought Poeme, which I also got from Refan and I had the original from Lancome and I can say you get the same thing, just in a different (plain) bottle and these imitation fragrances go off in about 2-3 years, while originals tend to last much longer if kept in a dark place, but that's all the difference. Since I was buying Poeme as a gift, I chose a fancy bottle, which I'm very surprised how good it looks. It's quite pretty and worthy of being displayed on a vanity and it only cost 2 € more than the plain bottles, but it only exists in 30 ml. For me I bought four fragrances, but I'll likely get more in the future:

49 Dior Addict - This smells so expensive and it kind of reminds me of Christmas/Advent. It's a really well done vanilla, but it's not modern and that's what I like about it because I tired of the same praline or coffee-patchouli-vanilla concoctions that are the most popular fragrances right now (La Vie est Belle, Si, Good Girl, Black Opium, … - my skin just dislikes anything with patchouli so I avoid it.). It starts as a spicy vanilla, but that lasts only a few minutes and that sharpness fades away to make space for a more powdery fruity (orange) vanilla. It's warm, opulent and elegant, but also quite strong, so one spray is enough and it lasts excellently on the skin.

97 Dior Poison Girl - This smells exactly like chocolate box pralines with fruity liquor. It's uncanny. It stays like that for a while, but then develops into a classic perfume-y vanilla base that is akin to just about any modern fruity-floral vanilla (without patchouli). I can see why it's popular, but that vanilla is for my taste rather boring and done so many times - that's just my opinion. Staying power and projection is excellent.

118 Dior Poison - my new love. I've read raves upon raves about this fragrance, but I don't recall seeing this version in my local Müller, only Hypnotic Poison (I could have missed it). It definitely has that pre-2000's vibe, so this does not have that (to me) boring vanilla base, but it granted for modern tastes smells perhaps somewhat dated. It starts sweet with notes of plum and for a while it has this almost herbal note that I'm not a big fan of (until I get used to it), but that base is divine. It's such a gorgeous powdery + something vanilla. You just don't get that in modern fragrances anymore. Staying power is outstanding, this lasts all day on the skin and I can smell occasional clouds of this stuff for hours. It's one of the strongest and most long-lasting scents I've tried. My clothes smell of this stuff for days - it's brilliant.

501 Lancome La Nuit Tresor Nude - I got this for the coconut notes mentioned in reviews. It's the most neutral and lightest scent of the ones I got, so one for every occasion. Beginning is nicely fruity-creamy with noticeable notes of coconut, though not in a traditional tropical way. It's weakest of the scents I got and it lasts maybe 4-5 hours on the skin. Silage is moderate. I like it, I just wish it were stronger and lasted longer.

SUBRINA Colour Refresh Mask
Red & Warm Brown
Man am I glad these exist. My roots were already very obvious, so I coloured my hair, but I only used L'Oreal's Excellence 8.1 with a 12% developer because I was too lazy too bleach beforehand and that inevitably resulted in delightful orange roots (I was also testing my theory that 8.1 with a stronger developer might be able to lift enough and I was wrong. My natural hair is way too dark for that). Rummaging through my usually endless stash of colours, I realised I my L'Oreal 7.1 was used up (covers/tones orange), so I panicked and after some more searching through my drawers I decided to hide my roots with a temporary colour, so a tinted hair mask. It was a better choice anyway since I didn't want to colour twice and cause potential unnecessary damage, so while I wait until I feel like I can bleach + colour again, I'm a temporary redhead. I didn't have a full tube of red, so I mixed it with Warm Brown and also some conditioner, since these are so pigmented (I'd go with Magenta, if I had a full tube). The result is a less bright red I had the first time and I like it more. It took only 10 minutes to hide my mistake and given that I wash my hair once a week, it's going to last for a while. I've used these so many times and had so many different hair colour, and they always wash off completely, but I make sure I use a protein treatment beforehand to avoid the colour sticking too much to damaged parts.

UPDATES

BACKUPS

This is going to be a bit random. It was supposed to be a separate post, but by now I've already used up and opened some stuff so they are not backups anymore and I've done a long empties post a couple of weeks ago featuring a lot of these, so I'm just going to do a quick version here. I tend to have a lot of backups in my stash of the stuff that I use daily or very often, since some of the products needs to be ordered online and you never know how long will it take to get here, but a lot of the stuff is almost empty at the moment, or was on that day when I was taking pictures, so I had even more backups than usual.

MAYBELLINE Fit Me Matte+ Poreless - my favourite foundation that I have in two shades. Two are pretty much empty and I once got a backup of the lightest 100 in Austria and then later I also got 110 because it was 50% off in my local drugstore.

ESSENCE I <3 Extreme Volume Mascara Waterproof - My favourite mascara that I always have a backup of. It's technically not a backup anymore, since the old one was bought last year.

CATRICE Liquid Liner - same thing as for Essence I <3 Extreme. My favourite liquid eyeliner.

Missing on the picture: MAX FACTOR 2000 Calorie Mascara that I bought recently. It's one of my favourite regular formulas.

ESSENCE Soft Contouring Lipliner 08 Big Proposal - already discontinued, so I got a couple of backups before they disappeared. It's the best "my-lips-but-better", natural-looking lip colour for my pale skintone.

ESSENCE Big Bright Eyes - this has been discontinued for so long now, but I got backups back then. I never mention it because what the point for you, since you can't get it, but it's the best eyeliner for making the eyes look bigger and looking fresh/rested.

Missing on the picture: CATRICE Plumping Lip Liner 020 What a Doll -  a recent purchase and a new love for the "my-lips-but-better" lip colour.

COSRX Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence - an essence I use every day. I've already started using the backup.

CV Skin Glow Serum & Primer - a serum with vitamin C and tiny shimmery particles that give a natural glow that I use every morning. I've already started using a backup.

BALEA Vital Konzentrat Gegen Pigmenten Flecken - This is discontinued here, but it's still on Austrian online shop. It's a cream with niacinamide and vitamin C that suits my skin so well. I had two backups, one I already started using.

Missing on the picture (well, I ordered them, hopefully they arrive with no problems): ROHTO MENTHOLATUM HADA LABO Super Hyaluronic Acid Cleansing Oil & CEZANNE Skin Conditioner High Moist

BALEA Erfrischendes Washgel - a cleanser I've been using for years. I already started using the backup and bought a another, but this time the backup is BALEA Milder Reinigungs Schaum

BALEA Handcreme Urea - the best cheap hand cream, this really is so good. I already started using the backup.

YUMMY Rhubarb & Orange Shower Gel - already discontinued and it was only sold in one place. This has be best summery, citrusy uplifting scent ever. I treasure ever drop.

BALEA Rasiergel - Always in stock. I tend to buy limited editions, but if they aren't appealing to me I grab the original.

DOVE Nourishing Secrets Restoring Riatual Anti-Perpirant Coconut & jasmine flower - my standard deodorant. So far it's still working for me and I've gone through a few of these by now.

L'OREAL Elseve Extraordinary Oil Nourishing Shampoo - my favourite shampoo. I've already used a half of the backup.

L'OREAL Elseve Color Vive Purple Shampoo - an excellent purple shampoo for toning blonde hair. I'm already using the backup and I bought another since I took these pictures.

CANTU Shea Butter Hydrating Cream Conditioner - the best conditioner for very dry hair. It keeps my hair hydrated longest out of the products I've tried.

SUBRINA Colour Refresh Mask - I don't just have backups of Diamond Blonde, but also Violet, Red and Magenta (bought them myself, so we are clear). I use Diamond Blonde at almost every wash. I just mix a bit with a mask or conditioner I'm using at the time.

OLAPLEX n.3 - I always have this in stock. I started using it as soon as I began bleaching and colouring my hair, and it's doing it's job ok. I now use it in combination with the new n.0, which gives better results.

OLAPLEX n.6 - one of my favourite ever products. Apart from being a bond builder, it helps me achieve a smoother blow-out and it tames frizz also on dry hair without being too wet or even sticky.

LA CROA Argan Macadamia Protect & Shine Spray - another huge favourite, I adore this and it's an excellent detangler, shine spray and smoother. I'm already on the half of my first backup.

DOVE Advanced Hair Series Quench Absolute Crème Serum - discontinued for a while now, but I still have a backup. One of the best hair products for dry hair ever made and it sucks so much it's gone, but Olaplex n.6 is very similar, just a lot more expensive.

MissingL'OREAL Excellence Crème 8.1 Light Ash Blonde - a colour I use for toning after bleaching. I have two.
GARNIER Color Naturals 9.1 and 7.1 - this is similar to L'Oreal, but smaller and with a mini conditioner, but again great for toning. I haven't used 7.1 yet (I have picture of results with L'Oreal's 7.1+8.1), but I used up two 9.1 and they are the same as L'Oreal's.

BATH & BODY WORKS Fine Fragranced Mist Twilight Woods - my favourite fragrance. It's a divine woody, warm and comforting scent. It's a retired fragrance now, so only online I believe, but so far they've already released it as an autumn limited edition once
