Zara (is) was having a sale. I decided before I parted with a wad of dosh I'd justify an online over spend by testing out some of the items on my "want list" in store. So, I tested a shoe and a few perfumes, hoping I'd like the scents that were on sale. Flash forward a day - I decided to that I really actually wasn't too interested in the "sale scents" even though they smelt decent enough. So I eagerly took up a bottle of Rose Gold and waited in the two line queue.
You know those two line queues. The one where said customers unload their mystery bags of returns that take up much more time than you thought (otherwise you wouldn't have joined the queue) on your way to work. I know how it is - I really shouldn't be shopping in "work time" especially since I did browse for a while. Yet, I got so peeved I became that customer - you know the one that asks if another till can be opened and we all know how that works out ... I still had to wait. Nearly being late to work (my fault) did slightly taint the joy of a new perfume addition (addict) but as I unpacked it after the long slog at work and sprayed it - I couldn't help but feel better about the whole thing. Note to self -try not to be an ass.
Anyway enough of my chatter. Here's my review:
The main note I can smell in Rose Gold is orange blossom and magnolia. Its a very warming comforting sunny scent. Reviewers have likened the scent to 'Michael' by Michael Kors. I've never smelt Michael Kors scents so I just wouldn't know if it does. Alternatively from what I have smelt Rose Gold does remind me of Serge Lutens Fleur D'Oranger which I gifted to my mother for Christmas (yeah I can be nice). I personally love that scent. To me Rose Gold is Fleur D' Oranger illegitimate love child - but I'll need to smell Fleur D' Oranger again just to make sure (I haven't smelt/seen it recently).
Anyway ... I think Zara Rose Gold is a very romantic fruity floral scent with slight green milkiness to it (like sap) that later fades into light but still noticeable floral gorgeousness. Rose Gold is the perfect non-offensive scent to fit all occasions which thankfully isn't "typical", "clean sea breeze" smell that whilst likeable is often mundanely boring (imo). I'm so in love with this scent its certainly one of my favourites and that's not the only thing I love about it ...
The bottle is nearly as gorgeous as the scent. A weighty glass with a weighty topper (see picture above - sorry about the chipped manicure - eek). Everything about this eau de parfum feels opulent. The shape reminds me of the full sized 'NR for her' bottles but I love this design more - the clear glass the slightly pink juice ... Oh words can't describe how much I enjoy this scent.
