Hooray for my first Lime Crime purchase!
Hello again lovelies, I'm back with a new product that I would love to share with you guys and from reading the title, you know what it is. Yes, it's the new Lime Crime Velvetines collection and I picked up the colour Red Velvet. It's a beautiful deep red shade with a slight blue undertone (my teeth definitely looks whiter wearing this on!) I picked this baby up at Lipstik Shoes in Highpoint Shopping Centre about a week and a half ago and retails for $24 (pretty cheap in comparison to online!). It comes in 3 shades, Red Velvet (Red), Suedeberry (coral) and Pink Velvet (bright pink). At first glance, they seemed very intimidating because the colours were so vibrant, but after swatching them, the colours looked absolutely amazing and super pigmented with just one swipe. When applying one coat onto my hand, I noticed that the colour was quickly setting into a matte finish but if you were to apply another coat, obviously it will take longer to set.Let's talk packaging, it comes with 2.6ml of product which in my opinion is a lot, considering you only need to apply just one thin layer for the product to become opaque. It's very sturdy and is nicely stored in a frosted glass bottle with a doe foot applicator, making it more luxurious than a typical lipgloss.
When applying this onto my lips, I noticed the texture to be very creamy and could also be compared to NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams (texture wise). I also noticed straight away that there was way too much product on the brush, but at the time I didn't think about it and applied way too much on my lips. Although it still looked amazing, it took quite a long time to finally set to a matte finish after countless times of blotting my lips. Now I know that I have to scrape excess product back into the bottle before applying it onto my lips, although it might be a hassle, I prefer to do it this way without having to waste it. After it dried to a matte finish, there was barely any transfer and after have dinner, drinking and wiping my mouth, the colour was still very vibrant and I felt as if I didn't need to touch up at all. I do suggest to use this product with a lip liner, just because it can be a little messy if you aren't careful. Overall, I am in love with this lip stain, it's a gorgeous shade and I think I need to invest in the other too colours too! Hehe. Lasting power is about 8-9 hours without touching up which is an A+ in my books!
