So this weekend I had Friday off as well as Monday.  And while my husband watched Wimbledon I worked on the dollhouse.

My first project was an attic door.  I tried to match the instructions given on the Greenleaf site.  I had some hinges that I bent around the frame and a couple of window pulls to use for handles.

I think it turned out pretty well.

I want to find some fleece in that awful lurid pink and stick some brown paper to the back for insulation.  Then a few boxes and odds and ends on the crossbeams.  My parents attic needed a ladder to get in and you couldn't walk in it.  I'm going for the same sort of thing here.

My next project was the bedroom.  I was originally going to go with a wallpaper covered wainscoting for the bedroom. I had a nice pale green and cream stripe to offset the rose and cream for the upper walls.  But with the herringbone floor the stripes looked very busy and I decided to go a different way.

I think the panels are simple enough that they won't look too bad with the walnut herringbone floor.  So I got them all measured and cut for the room, then glued and painted.

They aren't painted an actual green.  Just a sandy taupe that matches the leaves of the rosebushes on the wallpaper.  It's another look that people tended to use when they wanted a quick remodel of a very traditional house. Paint the wood paneling.

It's killing me to not put the windows in but my Shapeways order hasn't even shipped yet.  It's something that drives me crazy since I ordered the pieces a month ago.  I know they have to make them, I'm just impatient.

So I started to measure and work out the details for the porch.  Then I started painting all the parts.  First step. Paint black.  Next step, add crackle medium.  Finally coat liberally in white.

The porch parts are pretty much my July 4th accomplishment.

They all look nicely aged and beat up don't they?

This is probably all I'll accomplish until next weekend. I rarely get dollhouse stuff done during the week.  Hopefully I'll be able to work on the porch some more.  Or get my work area organized/cleaned so I have room to work on the bathroom fixtures and the kitchen cabinets.  I might be able to organize a bit before the weekend.

Cross your fingers for me.
